Devon based, Martin's distinctive style and palette have made his work greatly prized. Trained in architecture, his love of structure and form is very evident in his depiction of Devonian coastal villages or moorland hamlets. His paintings frequently have a vertical segmentation to them, leading the eye in lines up the picture. They capture the essence of the subject, the texture of buildings and moorland influenced by that great artist and mentor, the late John Blockley RI.
