About the artist:

Amanda trained as a teacher of art in the 60s, then studied part time at the Bath Academy of Art. She taught children and adults for many years whilst developing her own work. She is a member of the Bath Society of Artists.
Exhibitions: Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions, RWA, Mall Gallery with many solo and joint exhibitions.
Artist Statement:
"I am drawn to the wide spaces of the Berkshire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire Downs. These landscapes are marked by ancient tracks that link successive cultures ancient tribes, drovers, traders and nomadic wanderers. I am interested in man's signature on the landscapes, left over many centuries. The land continues to be marked by mans working of the fields creating ever changing linear patterns colours and textures changing now with the different crops and seasons. It is the interaction between man and land that is a constant source of inspiration to me.
I work in mixed media employing many different materials. I go out in the landscape and my paintings start as watercolour sketches and drawings. Through these sketches I attempt to capture the power and rhythm of the land. The works are then finished in the studio where the dimension of mixed materials and interpretation come into being.
