Bob worked at the celebrated First Glass in London before deciding to relocate to Devon in 2003.
Every piece of glass Bob produces is handmade, no moulds are used, it is Bob’s skill that makes each piece similar. Throughout the variety of the work, Bob exploits the many properties of the material through refraction or reflection; sharpness or softness, transparency or opacity, working with its fluidity and ‘freezing’ it as the desired form is realised.
Bob Crooks is one of Britain’s most recognized, leading glassmakers. Renowned for the high quality, skilfully executed dynamic forms and surfaces which he produces, he is continuously thinking of original and challenging ideas. His work has been exhibited at International level and in noted exhibitions in Italy, China, Scandinavia, Australia and the USA.
Colour, form and constant invention define the work of this great glass blower. Contemporary in leaning, his beautiful decanters, finely balanced bowls and joyful perfume bottles are works of the highest order.
