About the artist:
Gillian lives in Pembrokeshire.
Gillian studied at West Surrey College of Art. Her early career was as a graphic designer working in advertising in London and Australia. After a few years spent in Indonesia and Singapore, in 1985 Gillian moved to Wales where she became a full time artist. She met the influential artist John Blockley in 1986 (who became mentor, friend, and major influence) and painted with him and other artists in the “Blockley School” until his death in 2002. Originally a watercolourist, Gillian works increasingly with collage, mixed media and texture, with the same goals of rendering the ever changing contrasts of light and intensities of colour in the challenging landscapes and seascapes she chooses to paint.
Marine House at Beer had known of and admired her work for some years and she was introduced to us by our artists Martin Procter and Michael Morgan. We are delighted that she has now joined our gallery artists.
