About the artist:
John trained in pottery at Wolverhampton Polytechnic. He specialises in Raku work, high fired pottery which undergoes smoking and the controlled amount of sawdust in the post firing cooling process. He then applies elaborate patterns of gold based lustres. The result is a rich, sensuous surface on pottery of classic form.
John exhibits at galleries with a serious interest in ceramics and is recognised as one of Britain's top thirty potters.
Marine House at Beer selected John's work not just for its timeless quality, but because it fits in so well with the selection of work on display which we have slowly refined over fourteen years.
