Karen Atherley

Karen studied ceramics at Camberwell College of Arts and Crafts. Her tutors included Colin Pearson and Janet Tchalenko. Her ceramics are each individually hand thrown. She then wraps curvy, fleshy figures around her pieces, using coloured slips on white earthenware, which she then glazes with a transparent glaze to give a lustrous finish. Her designs are influenced by Greek antiquity and the colours of the French Impressionists. Karen has exhibited widely at home and overseas. Her work has been shown alongside that of Sir Hugh Casson and Anita Klein. The colour and design of Karen’s work is both uplifting and eye catching. A representative selection of Karen’s work is shown here, stock is not all shown here and can change rapidly, we hope this gives you some good ideas.

Below are examples of Karen’s work. Please contact the gallery to check availability or alternative options. It may be possible to order a piece of a similar style/design if currently out of stock and most items can be ordered in other colours.
