CAMBRIDGESHIRE

Sarah studied fashion & textiles, obtaining a BA(Hons) in Embroidery at Nottingham University. She later followed City & Guilds Creative Studies majoring in ceramics to Level 4, & PTLS teaching for adults.

Sarah’s work is rooted in texture pattern and colour, primarily using porcelain clay. It has evolved from collecting organic geological materials from the coastline, made into plaster collage and pictures. There is a play between clay and plaster to impress and print texture onto slabs of clay to create the ceramic vessels. The textural surfaces are hand-built then highly delicately washed with colours & oxides to heighten the design, whilst some are left plain and rely on the light to shine through their porcelain translucency. All are fired in an electric kiln.

Based on her observations of the Jurassic Coast of East Devon, Sarah combines textures to represent this unique landscape.

Her work has been most notably featured in the British Museum, alongside the Ice Age Art exhibition, Carouge Ceramic event, Turner Contemporary Open Call 2022, The Mall Marine Artist exhibition 2023. She regularly exhibits at PotFest events and Open Studios.
