About Marine House and Steam Gallery
These sister galleries are 150 yards apart in the centre of the beautiful fishing village of Beer on the Jurassic World Heritage Coast. Marine House was opened by the owners Mike and Rosemary Lambert in 1998 and Steam Gallery, with its complementary range of art, in 2002.
Our objective is to create a centre for good arts and crafts open all year seven days a week, with most artists based in the South West. It’s fair to say that the galleries offer the largest collection of arts and crafts in the region, with more than 100 artists exhibited. Over the years we have built strong relationships with many noted artists. Indeed many who joined us on day one are still with us.
We focus on the work of painters, studio glassmakers, potters, sculptors and jewellery makers. Our approach is informal, knowledgeable and welcoming. Our large number of regular customers attest to this and the galleries have grown consistently over the years.
We have examples of new works on display by all our artists and pride ourselves on keeping our website refreshed and bang up to date with works available.
The galleries stage regular solo shows and we are a leading participant at major art fairs in London, Bristol, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Last but not least, much of our success can be attributed to our excellent and enthusiastic staff led by our manager Julia Brookman.
