Neil Cox, Ian Parker, Carolyn King SWAc A Trio of Contrasts

Fruit, flowers, feathers and fun!

This exhibition at Marine House at Beer is sure to delight as we present the contrast of fine still lifes by Ian Parker, supreme studies of birds by Neil Cox and delightful smile inducing studies of Carolyn King’s two ladies.

These artists have been stalwarts at the gallery for many years. Few still life artists can match the enchantment and realism of Ian Parker‘s virtuoso studies. We first met Ian at the Royal Academy summer show some 17 years ago where astonishingly five of his works had been accepted – and sold of course.

East Devon artist Neil Cox is a leading bird artist although his talents also include landscapes. Great delight is to be found in his compositions not only of the birds themselves but the settings in which he places them which are so appropriate for each bird variety.

Local artist Carolyn King has evolved storylines based on the lives and activities of two elderly lady friends from her imagination. The joy is to observe their various cavortings. But a key to Carolyn’s success is found in the humour built into each thoughtful piece. They’re great fun and highly collectible.

We have chosen all these paintings not as large works to dominate the mantelpiece but to add a moment of reflection and pleasure every time you pass them in the kitchen, the hall, the study, the living room, wherever!
