Emma has built her reputation with the meticulous and haunting oil canvasses of the majestic animals of Africa and India. She focuses to powerful effect on individuals not groups.

Detail is paramount to Emma, the play of light on fur, the fold of skin, are just a couple of the elements which give her work its enchantment and realism.

In contrast her backgrounds are a more expressive style, she applies the oil paint with a knife, producing a world for the animal to exist in for that moment, and allowing the viewer to lose themselves in the work.

“When one of my paintings hangs on someone’s wall, I want them to have the feeling that the animal is there in the room with them and to really connect with the individual and experience just a little of the beauty of nature, along with the enduring beauty of fine art.”

Emma has been a finalist at David Shepherd’s Wildlife Artist of the Year awards in 2020 and in 2021 when she received a Highly Commended Award. Finalist BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year in 2012 and 2013.
