Mike lives in Devon. Mike trained at West Surrey College of Art and Design, Farnham, followed by postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy School in London. Having exhibited widely in London and the provinces, he moved to Devon in 2008, inspired by the amazing light. He enjoys experimenting with media and techniques, using mixed media and incorporating collage and acrylics, creating a highly original and appealing style of his own. This method allows the pictures to evolve their own personality as they progress, which avoids them becoming over-representational. His subject matter includes, landscapes, seascapes, street scenes, still life and figurative compositions. “I enjoy the way textures, shapes, colour and ‘happy accidents’ steer the direction of my paintings” Mike was elected as a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour in 1997. He has won many awards over the years and has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. He has regular solo shows with Marine House at Beer and has had great success with Marine House exhibiting in the Affordable Art Fairs in London, Singapore and Hong Kong.
