Tiffany Scull’s ceramics are all unique pieces, which from “raw” clay to completion undergo numerous complex processes. In essence her pots are three dimensional paintings which reflect her closely observed passions for birds and flora.
Her technique is one of Sgraffito (a design scratched onto the surface of hard clay) created in the 11th century in China and extensively used in Medieval art.
The challenging and time critical nature of Sgraffito work means that Tiffany can only concentrate on one piece at a time as they go through many stages before they are ready to be fired in a two phase process.
Greatly admired for the exquisite quality of her ceramics, Tiffany who trained at Portsmouth Art College and Surrey Institute of Art and Design has seen her work exhibited at many leading UK galleries and exhibitions. Marine House at Beer are pleased to be the focus for her new and latest work.
