Valerie Jordan was born in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire. She studied art at Newcastle College of Art, London Central School of Art and The Tokyo Hanga Academy, Japan. After a career in education Valerie became a full time Artist in 2002. She says,
“Having spent 27 years on the Yorkshire moors where often the light was subdued and the sky overcast, I arrived in Australia in 1974 and was immediately struck by the brilliant light and intense blue skies and seas. It is a land full of brightness and sharp contrasts. There is a freshness in the air, warmth and a parade of colour and activity on the seas from yachts, windsurfers to the beauty of bird forms.”
Valerie has exhibited widely throughout Australia and her work is represented in many government, corporate and private collections including, The Alice Springs Foundation, Barossa Valley Art Collection, University of South Australia and Parliament House Sydney.
