Janine Roper

Janine is based in Bridport and studied in Bath where she gained a First Class Honours Degree in Ceramics in 2008. She is an Associate Member of the Gloucester Guild of Craftsmen.

Her ceramic flower bricks and other work are inspired by museum pieces especially 17th century Delftware. They are screen printed using oxides, mainly traditional cobalt blue. The clay is rolled out into thin sheets then printed, sometimes more than once. The shapes are then cut out and the pieces hand built. After the first firing they are glazed and re-fired and the beautiful colours of the oxides shine through. Each piece is unique as they are individually screen printed and made completely by hand.

A representative selection of Janine’s work is shown here. Please contact the gallery with any specific request and to check availability. Similar pieces can be ordered if currently out of stock.
