About the artist:
Rosemarie Cooke graduated in biology in 1966. She subsequently attended classes in ceramics and art, eventually, in 1980, setting up a workshop at her home in Cambridgeshire. Animals, birds and figures are individually hand built using a variety of stoneware clays. They are then glazed thinly or finished with various stains before firing to 1260 degrees.
Rosemarie says of her work "I enjoy the challenge of manipulating the clay into the desired form, whether it be the lifelike representation of a squirrel or a caricatured approach to a dodo."
Rosemarie Cooke is a Selected Member of the Anglian Potters and exhibits at all their shows.
