Stuart Akroyd, Steam Gallery

For over twentyfive years Stuart Akroyd has been creating beautiful glass, working in lead crystal he designs and personally blows all the pieces himself. Stuart takes his inspiration from nature creating dramatic organic pieces capturing vibrant colours and rhythmic patterns echoing both flora and fauna. Stuart’s adaptation of traditional Venetian techniques has expanded the possibilities of how glass could be worked and has led to a whole new range of designs. Stuart says “Since the first moment I worked with hot glass I knew I had found the medium I would use for the rest of my career. I love using glass, where the finished piece is a solid form but creates the sensation of movement and grace.”
