Ian Elliot won four successive gold and bronze medals for art before attending Glasgow School of Art. He went on to study at the Jordanhill College of Education and entered the teaching profession, ultimately becoming Head of Art at a large Glasgow Comprehensive.
In 1997 he left teaching to devote himself to the pursuit and development of his career as an artist. He exhibited successfully in the RSW Exhibition, Edinburgh, The Royal Glasgow Institute, The Paisley Art Institute, The Aberdeen Artists’ Society and The London Affordable Art Fair. He also had successful solo shows in various galleries.
Ian gained much inspiration from his visits to Mallorca and Italy, enjoying their contrast with that of his native Scotland. He incorporated the strong colours of the Mediterranean in his landscapes resulting in vivid and exciting paintings.
